This summer 2026, we are excited to invite you to participate in the construction of a mural in Etobicoke. We’re looking for emerging to intermediate muralists that are 18+ to join Jacquie Comrie in a mentorship-driven public art project rooted in joy, connectivity, and community care.

Meet The Lead Muralist

Jacquie Comrie (she/her) is a Panamanian Toronto-based multimedia artist, mother, and mental health advocate.

Jacquie’s work stands at the intersection of art and wellness, exploring colour psychology and its benefits to the human body and overall wellbeing. Through a range of artistic mediums, Jacquie explores colour to create vibrant, large-scale, public art experiences with mindful approach,

Meet The Project Coordinator & Mural Assistant

Jasmine Vanstone (she/her) is a Jamaican-Canadian multidisciplinary artist and arts facilitator who inspires and amplifies marginalized voices through arts mentorship, community arts programming, and public art.

Through her artistic practice, she experiments in various mediums—primarily collage, public art, poetry, and paper crafts—to share visual reflections of identity, wellness, and the natural environment.

Be A Part of The Mural Creation

We’re inviting emerging 8 emerging muralists (18+) who identify as Black, Indigenous, women, femme, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, and/or neurodivergent artists to take part in a mentorship-driven public art project taking place in Mabelle Park (Etobicoke-Lakeshore). This program is led by muralist Jacquie Comrie and supports through a mural accelerator experience.

Please note that this application process is closed and decisions will be made by the end of May 2026.

DETAILS

The program is meant to support artists from historically underrepresented communities and runs from June 6, 2026 to August 8, 2026 with workshop days taking place mostly on Saturdays. 

Participants will be offered the following:

  • Hands-on mural production skills and professional development in public art
  • Be a part of co-creating a mural that reflects the cultural richness of Mabelle
  • Receive safety training + certifications
  • Along with a paid honorarium after completing all elements

Time commitment: Please review the application for all of the dates.

Location: Mabelle Park

Each participant will receive a payment of $1000.
 
Please note that priority for participating in this project will go to Black, Indigenous, women, femme, 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, and/or neurodivergent artists. A relationship to Mabelle Avenue is an asset.
