Future Grounds
A series of eight larger-than-life augmented reality (AR) activated artworks scattered across Aurora Town Square.
About The Project
In collaboration with the Town of Aurora and the Aurora Cultural Centre, Oddside Arts offered a public art residency to youth to create public art banners to celebrate the launch of the new Aurora Town Square.
Each of the eight artworks in this project was designed by a youth artist through months of creative mentorship and collaboration with the GTA/Durham-based collective, Oddside Arts. Featured youth artists include Sydney Achtermeier, Niya Ahmed Abdullahi, Justina Kandiotis, Narmineh Khurram, Madison Kwok, Nazia Munir, Joycelyn Ng, and Luna Quijano-Barraza.
AR is integrated into each artwork and can be viewed using the free Artvive app, available in any app store. When scanned through the app, each piece becomes animated, revealing new imagery and hidden meanings beyond what appears on the surface.
