Sun Cycle
Artist: Nandi Taylor
My parents immigrated to Canada from the Caribbean in the 80’s, and it’s from them I inherited my adventurous spirit and curiosity around all the possibilities life has to offer. Thanks to the foundation they set for me, I was able to forge my own path, journeying to the other side of the globe: Tokyo, Japan. Amidst this beautiful, unfamiliar landscape I lived and taught, every experience moulding and shaping my character, and nurturing my creativity. While there, I started writing what would go on to become my first published book. And though it was set in a fantasy world, it was the culmination of all my experiences, trials, and tribulations abroad. The sun patterns represent my parent’s homeland and Japan, the land of the rising sun.
